Lecture Notes
Week 8
For this week's class, we didn't had any lecture due to our blogs are being checked and we have to settle our key artwork and deal with our collateral designs.
Week 9
For this week's class, we didn't had any lectures due to settling our posters and collateral.
Project 2
Week 8
Poster
After finishing the key artwork, I decided to do the poster immediately because I delayed my time to deal with the posters. So, I tried mixing the typographic systems.

Then after receiving my feedbacks where Mr. Vinod wanted me to use dilational typographic systems in my poster. So, I tried to do some but it wasn't as good as it's supposed to be.

Then he told me to get inspired from there. So, I tried one more time to see if I can make a better poster.

Shirt
Then, I moved on to my t-shirt designs where I searched for aesthetic t-shirt designs from Pinterest. I made a few designs based on the inspirations found. I mostly chose to do on a black t-shirt because why not? Black shirts are cool.

Tote bag
Then, I moved on to the tote bag design and did a few simple designs as I feel like tote bag is meant to have something simple on it to look decent.

Then I couldn't decided between Image 5.3 and Image 5.4 because I like both of their designs. For the design in Image 5.4, I got inspired by one of my friend's tote bags.
Week 9
Poster
After receiving my feedbacks, I aligned my information and created Image 6.1. However, it is still not aligned and the alignment of the information is displeasing.

| Image 6.1 |
Then, I made it in a dilational form. However, there's a bit too much white space so Mr. Vinod advice me to make it bigger and rearranged it.

Then, I turned the info upside down so that it can be easily viewed. I also made the word bigger so that it can take up the white space slightly more.
T-shirt & Tote bag
Mr. Vinod chose these and told me to change the shirt to a white colour because of my poster being in a white background

Feedbacks
Week 8
Feedback from Mr. Vinod : "Go study dialtional typographic systems.
There are many-many... variations. You need to try harder.
Eunice, study carefully what I have given you above. Why is it good? Why doesn’t your look as good? What is missing? What do I need to do? How can I use my info and create a similar effect. Design takes a lot of work... and good design take a lot more work. For some people that takes a lot of work many times around.
So, just focus. This is not about speed. It is about QUALITY."
Week 9
Mr. Vinod told me to aligned the words in dilational to make it look like a smooth transition with the other information. Then, he told me that he prefers the other tshirt design but he wants it in white colour tshirt. After that, he told me to remove the box in my tote bag design and make the fists more in the front part of the bag while the words will be at the back.
Reflection
Experience
During Week 8, I kind of had an anxiety on the designs as I felt like non of it is good in Mr. Vinod's eyes and nothing can satisfy him for the posters so I slowly start to give up. For the shirt designs and tote bag I was slightly excited about because I kept imagining on what kind of design I would like to wear on everyday so I got inspired by one of my shirt designs.
Observations
During Week 8, I was really frustrated and my brain completely went rusty and blank as I really don't know what else to do and I kind of rushed my assignments as I have to meet up with my parents after such a long time and stay over at their hotel and I wanted to bond with my family.
Findings
During Week 8, I could've tried even better and give myself a break to recollect myself and get inspired better and to keep calm. I should also not overthink again and give it a best shot.
Further Readings
Week 8
Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works
Chapter 5 : Type Builds Character
- Generic style for adverstising
- How different types can represent a different feel
- Classic elements
In this chapter, it talks about how different type can project different feel, atmosphere, and context to the whole text piece by applying different type and layout to a same passage. Such as how Univer's neutral and clean design is very appropriate for forms due to its readablitiy even though its fitted into a confined space. Furthermore, this chapter also highlights how layouts could also give context to the readers about what the content is roughly about before having to read it. It is because there are certain classic elements that are embedded in it, which have established a generic look that's already ingrained in our memory.
Week 9
Setting Type : Using multiple typefaces
